The PLUS Company of Massachusetts is the leading provider of programs and services for people with disabilities in the Lowell and Merrimack Valley Area. With offices in Tewksbury and Lawrence, the programs offered in this region provide a broad spectrum of services to meet the needs of those served. Individuals learn through hands-on experiences, training programs, job sites, and vocational, and community integration programs.  The goal is to ensure that those served by The PLUS Company have the opportunity to reach their full potential and become vital, productive members of their communities.



In addition to employment and training services, The PLUS Company of Massachusetts offers additional education and community-focused programming. The Community Integration Program, located in Lawrence, provides support, recreation, and education to adults with developmental disabilities through a variety of year round programs. Participants attend classes and activities led by instructors who ensure that all offerings maximize each individual’s ability to live, volunteer, learn, and socialize in the community. Some of the activities this group enjoys includes visiting local libraries to improve research and computer skills, creating artwork at Michael’s Crafts, fitness activities at the Lawrence YMCA, bowling, yoga, and ceramic classes.  Volunteer opportunities include participating in the Adopt-A-Park Program, sorting clothes at the Salvation Army and Lowell Wish, and bagging groceries at Neighbors in Need and the Lowell Food Pantry.




The Evening Education Program, funded primarily by grants and donations, is a unique whole-life education program for adults with developmental disabilities. The PLUS Company currently offers classes in Ceramics, Yoga, Jazz Dancing, Scrap booking, Theatre Group, Signing, and Healthy Relationship/Peer Group. Classes are offered in a 1-hour block on a rotating schedule for a minimal fee. Individuals must provide their own transportation to and from these classes.


Sector-Based Training

STRIDE Program

The PLUS Company, Inc. operates an award-winning sector-based training program in partnership with Lowell General Hospital/Sodexo (STRIDE). Interns gain skills in various occupational rotations including Environmental Services, Materials Management, EKG department, Mail Room, Food Services, Sanitary Services, Transport, and other departments in combination with classroom coursework and special projects. Interns gain real world experience and an opportunity to explore different career paths within the Healthcare sector, but also acquire skills that transfer well to other industries such as Hospitality.

Retail Training Program

Graduates from the Retail Training Program which operates in partnership with Marshalls/TJ Maxx in Nashua and Tewksbury, MA gain real-world retail experience. Through a series of training opportunities to help build hard and soft skills, store knowledge, interpersonal skills and develop strong standards of professional conduct, interns prepare for exciting careers within the retail industry. Training involves classroom instruction, on-the-job training, and support by retail professionals. Curriculum covers: Retail Terminology, Stocking Procedures, Storing Merchandise, Sales Floor Best Practices, Pricing, Customer Service, Loss Prevention, Safety Emergency Planning/Procedures and other relevant skills training.

The job development process begins during training where interns meet with their job developer(s) to understand career goals, transportation options, availability restrictions, to ultimately find the best possible job match. Once placed, we provide on-site Career Training for individuals to ensure the transition goes smoothly. The INCOME program also provides Video Resume services for each intern, see examples below.
